What Are the Alternatives to Fixed Braces?

Cosmetic dentistry has come a long way since the days of painful metal braces. There are now many options to consider when looking to straighten out your teeth and make the most of your smile. Alternatives to fixed braces can be more comfortable, work quicker and are far less visible. At Smile Pad we offer the very best in orthodontics services, giving each patient a full consultation before discussing the most appropriate options for their own teeth. Below is an outline of the different teeth-straightening services that we provide as alternatives to fixed braces.

Removable Braces

Removable braces are exactly what the name suggests. They are made from a delicate system of wires and springs often fixed onto a plate that is placed onto the roof of the mouth. The entire piece can then be taken out as and when required. Each brace is constructed to fit perfectly into the patient’s mouth and gentle pressure is applied to the teeth, gradually straightening them. They are generally used for the top jaw. Inman Aligners

These cutting edge aligners are ideal for correcting the protrusion or crowding of the front teeth. They work a lot more quickly than other types of braces – usually within 6 months depending on the level of straightening required. They can also be taken out as and when necessary, though it is recommended that they be worn for at least 16-20 hours per day. Each aligner is moulded to the patient’s mouth and regular check ups are required to monitor progress. Click here to find out more about Inman Aligners.

Invisalign is the ultimate in invisible teeth straightening. Made from clear plastic, they simply fit over the patient’s teeth, gently encouraging them to move into alignment. They are an ideal solution for professionals not wanting to have anything too visible, as well as active people who need to take their braces out when playing sports etc. You can find out more about our Invisalign service here.

As with any dental treatment, your dentist will advise you on which options are best for you. By choosing Smile Pad you can be sure to have the very best in knowledge and service – and of course, results.
