How can veneers change your smile?

Our smiles are one of the first things that people notice about us and a confident smile is a great asset. If your grin is less than perfect then it’s not the end of the world as there are plenty of cosmetic dentistry options that offer a great solution. In particular, veneers are a simple method for returning teeth to their former glory – or creating the Hollywood smile you never had.

What are veneers?

Veneers are a simple solution to discoloured teeth and can also be used to correct a range of other tooth defects too.
They are a great solution for correcting misaligned teeth, closing gaps and helping to deal with protruding teeth. Veneers are an alternative for helping to correct issues with teeth that aren’t straight where orthodontics is not an option.

How do veneers work?

Unlike caps or crowns they are not fitted over the entire tooth but instead sit across the front surface of the tooth. Veneers are created individually and will usually be hand crafted from porcelain by an expert technician. They sit over the front of the tooth as a false nail might sit on a real nail.

How long do veneers last?

A tooth veneer is created to be incredibly strong and each one normally lasts up to 15 years, which makes them a great choice if you’re looking for a bright smile that will stand the test of time. The great thing about wearing veneers is that no one will no you have them as they are created to look like normal teeth – just in fantastic condition and perfectly aligned. They are stain resistant, they do not change colour and they are very realistic.

How do you look after veneers?

Veneers are very easy to maintain and they don’t need any special care.

How are veneers fitted?

It normally takes around two visits to create and fit veneers so the process is not time consuming. Teeth may be prepared by removing some of the shiny, outer enamel surface of the tooth to ensure that the veneer will bond properly will the tooth underneath.

Other options

If you don’t want to opt for veneers then there are other cosmetic dentistry options. For example you could consider teeth whitening, using either a home whitening kit or super fast ZOOM! teeth whitening, which takes just an hour to change the shade of your smile.
