The appointments work very well, I always get a text to remind me in advance. When being treated I get shown any x-rays and explained any procedures. I always get informed about how much a filling would cost. The treatment itself is very fast, efficient, professional and even pain free!! What a great dentist. Best I ever had and I have had some experience. My treatments so far have involved filling of cavities and a root canal treatment. All of them done with most care and great results. Go here!!
Having recently retired I was looking for a dentist nearer to home rather than my previous work place; I was also never very impressed with the way staff at my previous dentist spoke to patients. My experience of the dentist, hygienist and reception staff at Clare Street has been exceptionally positive. I feel as though they have taken the trouble to advise me about things I can do to improve dental hygiene (using small brushes that had never been suggested at my previous dentist) and have been respectful and encouraging in their approach.I have been able to join as a NHS patient and fee bands are clearly on show and were explained at my first appointment. It is obvious that the staff respect each other as well as their patients and there is always a pleasant atmosphere between them.I don't suppose I'll ever like going to the dentist (who does!) but I feel much more relaxed about it now. What a difference. I have recently encouraged my husband to transfer dentists and he has had an equally positive experience even though he saw a different dentist at the practice. If you are looking for a dentist - try here before others.
I don't normally write reviews but I feel this is a must as this outstanding practice needs to be acknowledged. How am I qualified to write a review here ? I have very dodgy teeth and gums - inherited from my father (thanks Dad!) who had to have all his teeth removed in his twenties. So I've always known since my milk teeth came out that I need to do all I can in order to keep on top of my pearly whites and all their problems - and as my dentists will tell you they have been frequent and numerous over the years ! Oh and I also have a jaw which locks and dislocates...I know what you're thinking...I should play the lottery...but my 'lucky' short straw odds are reserved for my mouth unfortunately !! I have visited many dental practices (rough count about 10) as I have moved about from place to place and this dental practice is truly superb hence me wanting to take the time to review it for others to feel absolutely confident in coming here. The two receptionists are polite, helpful, cheerful (not in an 'in your face' way mind you) and friendly - as soon as I walk in they've already checked me in and greet me by my name. If ever appointments are running behind a tad (never waited more than 10 minutes) they keep me updated and don't just ignore the fact I'm sitting there waiting. Whenever I phone to make an appointment (be it routine or emergency) they take the time to find me appointments that fit around my work or ASAP. They send text messages to confirm appointments and timely reminders leading up to all my appointments. No query is too much for them and they are always happy to help. My dentist here - truly amazing. The dentist takes proper time over my check ups and always explains in detail what options are open to me for treatment. The dentist knows I don't like going to the dentist (they keep telling me it's a dislike rather than a proper phobia!!) and always manages to put me at ease - not once has the dentist caused me to flinch in the chair as super importantly the dentist explains everything step by step. The dentist gives me plenty of rest breaks due to my jaw and manages to not make me feel like a drama queen about the whole thing ! Professionally their dentistry skills are first class - all work the dentist has done has been to a brilliant standard and never have I had to go back with a problem with any work (fillings or crowns) that they've done for me. Even during an emergency appointment (which was made within an hour of me calling the practice) (root canal infection - proper ouch stuff !!) the dentist took time dressing my tooth and prescribing me antibiotics before explaining in detail all options available to me - NHS and private. The hygienist here at the practice is also first class - such a lovely person. The hygienist has so much patience with my very sensitive teeth and takes great care and attention with my treatment. This practice has a truly exceptionally friendly, helpful and professional group of staff and I would recommend them to everyone - dentist dislike or phobia !!
I was very nervous; as I'd had such an awful experiece at my last dentist. The dentist here was incredibly gentle & apllied pre-injection gel & allowed injections to work too. Also the waiting room is beautifully air conditioned and I like the reception staff. I cannot recommend this surgery enough. I am incredibly grateful. Thank you so so much
This is such a lovely Dental Practice. Before I registered at this Dental Surgery I hadn't been to a dentist for 8 years. I had a very bad experience at my previous dentist that left me feeling very anxious about getting my teeth seen to. I chose this practice because it was close to home and they were accepting NHS patience's without having to wait months for an appointment. I am so glad I picked this dentist because they are fantastic!! The reception staff are lovely, the place is very clean and has a friendly feel to it, but most importantly my dentist is wonderful.Upon my first appointment, a routine check up, I told them I was a little nervous. The dentist was so nice about it and has such a calming mannerism to them that I started to relax straight away. After my check up they told me I needed some work done and explained exactly what was required and why.I booked in to have my treatment, getting an appointment was easy and I didn't have to wait long either. I had my first lot of treatment less than a week after my check up. When I arrived to have my fillings done today, I was extremely nervous. When I was called in I told them that I was feeling anxious, and again they couldn't have been more lovely. The denist was calm, patient and gentle with everything they did. After I had the injections and they started the first filling I got a bit panicked and felt an anxiety attach coming on. The dentist immediately stopped and calmed me down before continuing. After the first one had been done I had calmed down a lot thanks to their support and the other two were easy. I have to go back next week to have the last bit of work done and I don't feel nervous or anxious about this at all, as I know I am in good hands. I would highly recommend this Dental Surgery to anyone, but in particular anyone who is at all anxious or nervous about having work done.
I have been a patient at Smile Pad for the past 7 years. I have always found the practice very professional and friendly. My husband, children and grandchildren also also attend the practice and have always received excellent treatment. I would highly recommend Smile Pad to anyone within the Downed/Fishponds area if they are looking for good quality practice dental surgery.
I decided to go for implants as I didn’t want the inconvenience of wearing a denture. Because of my age the process took some months, but each stage was explained to me very carefully (by Derek) and each question answered fully. The end result looks and feels extremely comfortable and natural.
I am very happy with these, as I have been with the previous crowns and dentures you have made for me. My mouth feels very comfortable and I am glad that you took so much care to ensure that the colour of the crowns match so that they look like my own natural teeth. I would like to recommend you for the care and consideration you give to your patients and the personal interest, taking the time to carefully listen and discuss our problems and explaining the best option for us and the procedure you will take. Also, very important to my husband and myself, we commend you on the high standard of hygiene you, with your dental-nurse, maintain during your patients’ treatment and your insistence on cleanliness throughout your dental surgery.
I am writing to thank you and say how pleased I am with the dental crown you recently fitted for me. Having not needed any treatment for some years, I was nervous and apprehensive. However you took time to explain what needed to be done and checked with me throughout the treatment that I was all right, which really helped to put me at ease.
As you know, last Friday, you replaced two of my old mercury fillings with lovely new white ones. I thought I’d write to say ‘Thank you!’ to you and your dental nurse for making this procedure less traumatic for me! As you are aware anything at the dentist which is not a routine check-up, makes me very tense and nervous. Throughout last week’s treatment, it was reassuring for me that both you and your dental nurse were checking that I was OK and informing me of what stage you were at in the filling procedure. All the staff at your practice is so friendly and helpful in making trips to the dentist much more bearable!
